Three Room Studio's 5th Birthday - Instagram Hop card

Hey there friends and crafters!  Happy you found your way here.  Believe it or not, due to some health reasons, I had not posted on my blog for a while and as I was attempting to create this blog entry in Chrome (my usual browser) my blogger account was just gone!  It gave me some weird error message that I was unable to work around.  Finally, I decided to check another browser, and voila!!  I could suddenly access my account and get this blog done.  I was freaking out!!  I'm a bit rushed to get this posted in time, so forgive me if this post is not up to my usual standards.😅 If you are following along on the IG Hop, then you've just come from Sandy Allnock's post/blog.  Just my luck to follow such a great artist and creator.  I'm quite a fan of hers, so yeah... no comparison's please!!😆😏

My card for the IG Hop is one I created with Sandy Boone (TRS owner/illustrator) in mind.  So it had to be a birthday card!  I've not made a slimline format card before, so I thought this was a good time.  For this card I used 3 stamp sets from Three Room Studio.  The main image is from the YAY! stamp set, as well as some of the sentiments, I used the grasses stamps from It's a Ponderful Life, and the small dragonflies and a sentiment from the Believe in Fairies stamp set.  I also used a Happy Birthday sentiment from Concord and 9th.

For this card, I first stamped the woman image in Copic friendly ink.  I then went about Copic coloring the background.  I added the dark grass stamp in the foreground last to add depth and dimension to my picture.  Then I colored this fun lady.  I added some black dots to her top for interest.  I then worked on the frame.  I used a MFTs rectangle die that I had to partial die cut twice in order to make the opening so long.  Fortunately it worked out on my first attempt!  I then decided to ink blend the frame as well, using the colors of my picture as inspiration.  I used Distress Oxide Inks (from the top first), Salty Ocean, Tumbled Glass, (then from the bottom) Mowed Lawn all the way up and Peeled Paint just at the bottom over top of Mowed Lawn.  Using my MISTI I positioned the sentiments and stamped them in Versa Fine Clair ink (dark blue and green).

After looking at it and thinking something was missing, I added some pale grass to the bottom of the frame and two little flying dragonflies.  I also colored over the word Hooray! with a green glitter pen (but you can't see it in my pictures).

For the final step in this card, I chose a fun holographic cardstock from Simon Says Stamp to fill the space between my picture and the frame.  It really looks cool!  I also used some dimensional foam tape to the back of the frame (it made that holographic paper show up even better).

Witt & Sass Launch - Designer Cupcake with Candy Sprinkles

Welcome Sassies & fellow crafters and welcome Friday!!  Today will conclude our week of the Designer Cupcake here at Witt & Sass.  What a fabulous stamp set, and so versatile (you'll have realized this if you have been following Witt & Sass's Design Team share their card creations with this stamp set all week).  This is card #2 for me (and my favorite)!  Products used on this card include:  Designer Cupcake stamp and Layered Stencil Dots.

How I made this card:

I started off with a teal colored ombre paper that I used the W & S Layered Stencil Dots on with my Distress Oxide inks.  I used several colors and overlapped the different sized circles, then set it aside to dry.  Next I stamped my plain cupcake in Antique Linen Distress Ink so I could do a little "no -line coloring.  I started with my Copics, then added additional details and highlights with my Polychromos colored Pencils.  I then stamped the strawberry on another piece of card stock, colored it, then fussy cut it out.  I also fussy cut my cupcake out as well.  I decided to use die cut elements from my Blueprints 26 die from MFTs.  I used the balloon, the words "happy & Birthday" and a small bow.  

I decided to die cut some of the card elements from paper I found in one of my 12 x 12 paper packs from DCWV.  This one was actually for DIY projects, mostly mini albums, but I liked the paper so I used it!  The balloon is cut from a very thick, colored vellum that looks very much like the texture of the bokeh dot background I had made.  I also die cut the word "Birthday" from that paper pack as well.  For the "happy" and the cupcake bow, I used a foiled cardstock from a 6 x 6 DCWV Gold Foil Cardstock stack (white with gold foil dots) as the card needed some light/brighter elements.  I die cut the "happy" three times and glued them together for a slightly more raised, less fragile look to the word die cut.

With everything cut and colored, I arranged the elements onto my colored background.  I decided to cut down the width of the colored piece so that I could mount it to a standard white top-folding A2 card base and have the white show on both sides of the card.  I also decided to cut my die cuts to overlap onto those white edges, I like that effect.  Since the "happy" was in front of the balloon element, that was where I strategically placed my adhesive for the vellum balloon, so it wouldn't show.  I also decided to pop up the "Birthday" sentiment strip as well, to give the card more dimension.  I cut a slit in the top of my cupcake icing so that the base of my strawberry would disappear into the frosting.  

It was at this point I decided I needed some additional shine and dimension to my card.  I grabbed my strawberry and loaded on a thick layer of Glossy Accents onto it and set it aside to dry (overnight).  I then stamped the elongated sprinkles onto my cupcake then chose 3 coordinating colors of Nuvo Crystal Drops and somewhat randomly filled in the candy elements with the very dimensional and opaque Nuvo Drops.  I set that aside to dry overnight as well.  The next day, I assembled my card and lastly grabbed a piece of natural hemp twine and tied it to the balloon, placing a glue dot underneath to keep the twine from loosening up.  I also coated parts of the twine with clear drying glue so it would keep it's shape and adhere to the paper.  The final touch was the tiny white/gold bow (same paper as the "happy" die cut) and enamel dot that I adhered to the cupcake!

I hope you enjoyed my card, it was really fun to make!  I also realized that I love how the Nuvo

Drops look and that I don't use them enough in my card-making (especially since I just HAD to have so many colors!)   So remember to look around your craft space for embellishments you've not used in a while - you'll probably come to the same realization I did... "why don't I use these more?"

Splendid Birthday Roses (for Kennedy Grace Creations) February Mood Board

Welcoming you back to my blog with a card I made for Kennedy Grace Creations February Mood Board.  This month's board is gorgeous, with some of my favorite colors (see below).  My card, of course inspired by it, uses the stamp sets Splendid Roses for the main image and Beautiful Blooms - Sweet Rose for the sentiment.  I used 2 KGCs sequin mixes on my card, Cotton Candy and Enchanted Evening. 

This month, as soon as I saw the mood board I knew what I wanted to do.  I recently received the Splendid Roses stamp set from Kennedy Grace Creations, and was itching to use it.  I also recently bought an Avery Elle cover die called Horizontal Stripes.  It has a lovely circle cut out in the middle of the stripes (perfect for my roses!).  The two in my mind were meant to be together.

February Mood Board

I first stamped the roses image onto a NSW 80# cardstock (superior for blending Copics) with Hero Arts Intense Black Ink.  I colored the images with my Copics (colors listed below) then lightly colored YR20 around the center background area, blending it softly out from the middle. Wanting a bit of sheen to my flowers, I decided to use a product fairly new to me, Ken Oliver Crafts Liquid Metal.  It comes out dropper style, so I used a paint brush and applied Metallic Rose to the roses and Metallic Jade to the leaves.  These did intensify the colors a bit and I wanted even more sheen, so after drying, I applied the Platinum color to the roses only.  This is pure sheen and beautiful!

With my cover die cut in hand (NSW 110# cardstock) I wanted my roses to spill over the sides of the die cut circle a bit, so I lightly traced a circle larger than the cover die circle around my image and decided which areas were going to go beyond the circle.  Those areas I fussy cut out.

Next I placed some liquid adhesive on the back side of the cover die's circle to adhere my roses in the proper place.  Once adequately dry, I flipped the entire piece over and applied lots of 3M Scotch foam adhesive tape so that the cover die had some dimension and sturdiness over my white cardstock base.

Once adhered to the cardbase, I white heat-embossed the Happy Birthday sentiment from Beautiful Blooms- Sweet Rose using WOW! Super Fine, Opaque Bright White Embossing Powder on some black cardstock and cut it to size.  Wanting some sparkle on the card, I cut 2 strips of white prism glitter paper from my stash and placed one under the black sentiment banner and one along the bottom edge of my top folding card.  Lastly, I used some gorgeous sequins from Kennedy Grace Creations in pink and green tones from the Cotton Candy mix and the Enchanted Evening mix.
